Counter Strike Global Offensive 2
Counter strike global offensive 2, a major upgrade of the game in its current version is now available. Valve is bringing the popular FPS to their brand new Source 2 engine.
Touchstone maps will be subject to minor adjustments to lighting and readability, while upgraded maps will get complete overhauls with Source 2's physically-based rendering.
Several gameplay improvements are also in the works and include sub-tick changes which will make it less dependent on tick rates to calculate precision actions.
Gameplay
Counter-Strike Global Offensive is the latest installment in the cult Counter-Strike series, and offers the same gameplay that has defined the genre. It was developed using Valve's Source 2 engine, and has high-resolution textures, real time lighting and Physics. It's been updated with new gameplay elements and weapons.
The game has 34 weapons among which 19 are exclusive to this latest version. Many of them are replacements for older weapons and the rest have been designed with distinct roles and characteristics.
Some of the most significant changes focus on the weapons themselves. For instance the SCAR-L is now replaced with the new weapon that has more power and range and the AK-128 is updated with a brand new barrel for better accuracy. Many other guns have been tweaked as well, including the M4A1 and sniper rifles.
Some of the maps have been updated to work with CS:GO 2. Overpass was redesigned to take advantage of the brand new Source 2 engine, while other maps like Dust II have been carefully updated. In addition to the brand new maps, the game will feature a host of additional new features. The interface of the game has been updated and a brand-new Item Workshop allows players to create their items.
The Faction system is another significant change. While the first version of the game had players choose between two factions, Counter-Strike 2 will offer an array of T and CT models to pick from. Moreover, the game's server architecture is now based on sub-tick updates meaning that the servers can evaluate the world in very small intervals, such as the instant that the player moves, fires a shot, or throws a bomb.
Since its release in 2012, CS:GO has become one of the most popular games on Steam with an estimated 11 million players per month. They are a nice touch to the map and make it stand out from many other CSGO maps that are heavy on long exteriors.
Updates
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is still running strong ten years after its it's release however, the 2012 first-person shooter multiplayer was in need of a major update. Fans had been expecting a Source 2 beta for CS:GO for a while, and Valve confirmed that the beta test will begin today. The studio promised a "largest technological leap forward for the game" and a revamp of every aspect of the game.
The most obvious change is the transition from Source 2 to a graphics engine that provides an immersive visual experience. New lighting particles, particle systems and a greater emphasis on making bullets accessible from distance are all aspects of this. The switch to the new engine also will mean a revamp of several maps, including revamped versions of Italy and Overpass.
Valve's new version is designed to improve the way server architecture and tick rates manage the actions of players. The switch to a 128-tick server architecture will improve the responsiveness as well as the graphic quality of the game. Valve promises that the change will be an "remarkable improvement" and will allow CS:GO to feel more responsive than ever before.
The players can expect to see several gameplay enhancements in addition to the graphic changes.
